Part B rejection

April 25, 2013 by Guest

I am currently receiving SSDisability after teaching for 30 plus years. It was mandated that I receive Medicare part A benefits. When I called about part B I was advised that because I had insurance through my former employer I would not need to enroll. Now I am facing extenuating factors which are devastating. The insurance company my former employer now has is filing bankruptcy and as go June 1st of this year I will need to be enrolled in NY44, or Medicare MVP Gold. Unfortunately neither of these choices will accept me unless I have partB. I have been rejected because of the enrollment period elapsing. This is by no means my fault, as I was given erroneous information.

Please help me.

Signing up for Medicare Part B after initial period

April 25, 2013 by David Luhman

We're not familiar with those two plans, but there is a provision to sign up for Medicare Part A and or B during an 8-month Special Enrollment Period that starts the month after the employment ends or the group health plan insurance based on current employment ends, whichever happens first.
