Stimulus check for children
April 22, 2009 by admin
Disabled children receiving SSI are eligible for the one-time payment. However, the law requires the Treasury Department to offset the one-time payments to collect delinquent child support and debts owed to state and federal agencies.
I have not seen anything in the literature indicating how your case would be handled. If you have joint custody of the child (live together) and filed taxes jointly, there's a chance the check may be used to offset the husband's tax liability.
You can contact your local office for this.
