if i usually get direct deposit for my ssi can i request a check for the stimilus payment instead

This is doubtful. The 2009 stimulus payment is normally made via your normal payment method (ex. if you get monthly direct deposit, your stimulus payment will be direct deposit).

You can try to contact your local office to change this, but due to the volume of payments I doubt if this can be accommodated.
