Temple Social Security Office Notes

Social Security offices have seen their hours reduced the past few years. Almost all Social Security offices are open 9:00 to 3:00, except for 9:00 to noon on Wednesdays. Call to see if you can get an appointment by phone first. Fridays may have more appointments available. Try doing things online like applying for disability benefits at ssa.gov.

Applying for SSN card

August 6, 2011 by Guest

I'm currently traveling with my husband for his work. Can i apply for my SSN card with my EAD card at any social security office in the US or does it have to be the office nearest my actual home. Will it make a difference in how long it takes to get the card?

Non-citizen obtaining Social Security number

August 7, 2011 by David Luhman

Social Security recommends visiting your local Social Security office when applying for a new card. They also recommend you wait 10 days after arriving in the United States to apply for a Social Security number. This will make it easier to verify your DHS documents online, which will speed processing of your Social Security number application. Applying for a Social Security number and card is free.

I was approved on May 27, 2011 for ssi and ssdi. I have received payments from both but none of my back pay from ssdi, how long does this take?

Disability back payment

August 25, 2011 by David Luhman

I haven't seen issues for SSDI back payments, but there are limitations for SSI back payments.

Past-due monthly SSI benefits that exceed three times the maximum monthly benefit (Federal benefit rate plus State supplementary payment amount, if any) payable to the individual be paid in up to three installment payments, 6 months apart.

You may want to contact the SSA directly for this.
